In 2025, Singapore’s government rolled out an all-encompassing and full-blown financial assistance scheme to help people cope with rising living costs and economic challenges. One of the main components of this scheme is the cash payout of S$700 that is targeted for immediate relief of eligible Singaporeans. This article elaborates all details concerning eligibility requirements, payment dates, and claims for this payout with other support measures that were introduced in Budget 2025.
Eligibility Criteria for the S$700 Government Payout
To be eligible for the S$700 cash handout, one has to meet the following requirements. The individual applying must be a citizen of Singapore. They should be 21 years of age or above as of the 31st of December in 2025. The assessable income for the year-of-assessment should not exceed S$100,000 for the 2024 assessment year.
The individual should not own more than one property. This forms the basis on which the assistance becomes targeted to the most impacted individuals and families suffering from the economic challenges.
Dates of Payment and Method of Distribution
The government of Singapore has thus set the disbursement schedule to be: in December 2025, all those eligible will receive the SG60 Vouchers and Assurance Package Cash straight to their bank accounts.
For those without bank account details, cheque payments will be provided. To prevent any delays in receiving the payout, since some always fail to update their personal records, citizens are advised to do so.
How to Claim the S$700 Payout
For most of such assistance measures, there is very little to no application involved, as they automatically hit all eligible citizens. People should really be updating their bank account information, and having active Singpass credentials available to receive payouts on time.
Other Support Measures Under Budget 2025
There are other initiatives besides the cash payout of S$700 which are to be included in Budget 2025 to support Singaporeans in the face of living cost challenges.
Community Development Council (CDC) Vouchers
All Singaporean households receive CDC Vouchers amounting to S$800. Of this amount, S$500 will be given in May 2025, while the remainder, S$300, will follow in January 2026. As such, these vouchers are not an alternative currency, but are redeemable at participating heartland merchants and hawkers, bringing back local businesses to relieve the daily costs.
U-Save Rebates
U-Save rebates of S$440 to S$760 will be given, depending on eligibility, to help HDB households mitigate their utility bills, credited every quarter in 2025.
Climate Vouchers
A Climate Voucher of S$400 will be disbursed to every household to encourage green living practices by boosting energy-efficient appliance purchases. Date of distribution will be communicated later.
