Disbursements of the Social Relief of Distress grant pertaining to SASSA and its temporary variations in perceptions in grant amounts have emerged since April 2024, returning to a hypothetical consideration extending up to December 2025. These modifications have been characterized as part of a mechanism aimed at the transformation of better access and increase in support, especially in favor of the impairment of millions of South Africans who are undergoing economic hardship.
Updated SRD Payment Schedule for 2025
The payment schedule for the disbursement of the R370 SRD grant has now been restructured, even though the processing of the SRD and other social assistance grants has encompassed monthly payments from February to December 2025 within the first week.
2025 SRD R370 Payment Dates include: February 24-28, March 24-28, April 24-30, May 26-30, June 24-28, July 24-30, August 25-29, September 24-30, October 24-30, November 24-28, and December 24-31. Increasing Grant Amounts in 2025
The welcome news is that the R370 SRD grant effective from April 2024 until 2025 was approved, with millions as beneficiaries. This is the first increase since the SRD grant was set up during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
Therefore, with regard to the year 2025, the minimum grant amounts are currently expected to be: R370 per month for the SRD or unemployment grant; R2,180 for the Old Age Grant for those under 75; R2,200 for those above 75; R2,180 for the Disability Grant; R530 for the Child Support Grant; and R1,180 for the Foster Child Grant and the Care Dependency Grant.
The R20 increase for the SRD grant is aimed at giving recipients some candid extra money to keep up with increasing food and transport prices on inflation.
